CHELMSFORD, UK – Chelmsford Warriors notched up a solid and convincing win over their local rivals in a snowy Romford this evening. Early goals from the Warriors knocked the wind out of the Fury’s sails and it was one-way traffic for most of the game. Former Romford player Ben Osborne scored early on for the Warriors giving them a 0-1 lead going into the first break. The second period was all Warriors as Osborne picked up his second along with markers from Tom Foskett, playing down from the Chieftains, and Adrian Woodyard getting his 3rd in 2 games. The Chieftains were able to defend their lead well and the teams went into the final break with a scoreline of 0-4. The Fury hit back with 2 goals of their own in the third through Simon Kears and Stuart Lowe. Things looked like they could get interesting and a comeback was on the cards but Sean Martin, on his return to the team, made it an unassailable 5-2 lead late on in the third period for the visiting Warriors team. The game did have it’s scrappy moments with Tom Foskett and veteran Lowe getting tangled up in the middle period, but generally passed off in typical derby fashion with intensity and physicality but in true ice hockey style handshakes all round at the final buzzer and everyone goes home happy. Man of the match awards went to Adrian Woodyard of the Warriors and Steve Paris of the Fury. Contact the author Pete.lewis@Prohockeynews.com
