Three EIHL games scheduled for Saturday night

It’s a relatively quiet Saturday night in the Elite Ice Hockey League, with just three games on the schedule this evening – something that won’t be repeated on a Saturday for the rest of the season.

Manchester Storm, who beat league leaders Belfast last Sunday, welcome Sheffield Steelers to the Storm Shelter hoping for a repeat of their New Year’s Day victory over their Trans-Pennine rivals. The Steelers ran out comfortable winners when the sides met a week ago and now have little margin for error in the title race, sitting seven points off the pace having played a game more.

Nottingham Panthers, who missed the chance to move into second place midweek with defeat in Glasgow, face Dundee Stars at the Motorpoint Arena. The Stars were in action against second-placed Cardiff on Friday night as they continue their attempt to make up the 18-point gap to the playoff places they started the week with.

In Scotland, Guildford Flames continue their road trip with a visit to Fife Ice Arena to face the Flyers. The Flames played in Glasgow on Friday night and will head home after this game. The teams met in Guildford a fortnight ago, where the Flames ran out 6–2 winners. Fife were on the road last weekend in Cardiff and Coventry but were unable to pick up points despite some strong performances.
