The Kalamazoo Wings were looking to protect home ice in Game 2 of their series with the South Carolina Stingrays Saturday.
The Stingrays had other plans as they now hold a 2-0 series lead after a 5-2 win in Kalamazoo.
Joe Devin opened the scoring for the Rays with a goal off a nifty set of passes to give the Rays an early 1-0 lead.
Caleb Herbert and Wade Epp added goals for South Carolina to build a 3-0 lead in the second period.
Tanner Sorenson and Sacha Guimond closed the deficit to 3-2 with two markers but the Stingrays were unfazed.
Brett Cameron scored two goals in the third period to help the Rays pull away.
The series resumes Monday night in Kalamazoo.
