In North Charleston Saturday, the South Carolina Stingrays made short work of Game 5 in their series with the Kalamazoo Wings in a 5-1 triumph.
The win clinched the first round series for the Rays, 4-1.
Following a scoreless first period the Stingrays scored three straight goals to take a 3-0 
lead and stranglehold on the game.
Nick Jones, Joe Devin and Stephen Vigier scored the goals for the Rays in a span of 2:15.
The outburst deflated the K-Wings who had bottled up South Carolina through the first half of the game.
Joel Martin took the loss for Kalamazoo on 23 saves and played well in keeping the Rays off the board in the first 30 minutes.
Brett Ponich was the lone goal scorer for the Wings as he broke up the Rays string of goals in the second period.
Austin Fyten added a goal just past the 15-minute mark of the third period and Joey Leach added an empty-netter to seal the win.
Vitek Vanecek picked up the win on 23 saves of his own.
