TORONTO – The St. John’s IceCaps came out on top of a back and forth scoring battle against the Toronto Marlies at the Ricoh Coliseum Sunday afternoon.
The Marlies started off the scoring late in the first with a rebound tap-in from Zach Hyman, but Michael Bournival came back minutes later with a goal to tie it up.
Bournival’s marker was his first of the season.
Toronto took a 3-1 lead in the second, but the IceCaps came from behind to take the lead. Joel Hanley, Bud Holloway, and Jacob de la Rose each notched back to back goals for a 4-3 advantage. The Marlies tied it up with 1:22 left in the third, but with just 36 seconds left, the IceCaps Captain Gabriel Dumont snuck one past Emery for the win, earning a first-star performance.
Michael Bournival, Bud Holloway and Gabriel Dumont each had a goal and an assist in the victory, while Brett Lernout, Michael McCarron, Charles Hudon, Lucas Lessio and Darren Dietz all picked up assists.
