PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Costello scores game winner in overtime

ALLEN, Texas – The Allen Americans extended their winning streak to a season-high seven games beating the Missouri Mavericks in overtime Sunday afternoon 4-3 at Allen Event Center.

Chad Costello scored two times for Allen, his team-leading 21st and 22 goals of the season. His 22nd was the game winner in overtime beating Missouri Mavericks goalie Josh Robinson on a breakaway to extend the teams winning streak.

“We didn’t play a great game today, but we got some big saves from our goalie Jamie Murray, and made the most of our opportunities,” said Americans All Star Chad Costello. “Missouri is a team with some talented players despite their record. We didn’t get off to a great start but we finished strong.”

Derek Mathers (4) and Joel Chouinard (5) also scored for the Americans. Jamie Murray earned the third star of the game winning his sixth straight game. The Americans lead the Mountain Division with 50 points, two ahead of the second place Idaho Steelheads and Colorado Eagles.
