A spot in the Eastern Conference Finals is at stake on Monday when the Wheeling Nailers host the Maine Mariners in the 58th Game 7 in ECHL postseason history. It is the first ECHL Game 7 beyond the first round of the playoffs since 2022.
Wheeling is playing in a Game 7 for the seventh time in team history. The Nailers are 4-2 in their previous six Game 7s, with three consecutive wins. Wheeling defeated Reading 4-3 in overtime in Game 7 of the 2016 Eastern Conference Semifinals in its only previous Game 7 at home.
Maine has gone to a Game 7 in both of its playoff series this year. The Mariners defeated Adirondack 3-1 in the deciding game of the North Division Semifinals. The Mariners fell to Adirondack in Game 7 of the 2024 North Division Semifinals.
The home team is 39-18 all-time in ECHL Game 7s and has won 26 of the last 37. Eleven Game 7s have gone beyond regulation, with four being decided in two overtimes and one in three overtimes. The home team has won eight of the 11 games decided in overtime.
