WINNIPEG, Man. – Three second-period goals lifted the Manitoba Moose (21-27-3-4)
over the San Antonio Rampage (21-29-4-1) 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at MTS Iceplex.
Forwards Gabriel Bourque and Mike Sislo skated in the 400th game of their professional careers, while Rocco Grimaldi and J.T. Compher tallied the eighth and sixth multiple-point efforts of the season, respectively.
After a scoreless first period, Manitoba opened the scoring early in the second when Dan DeSalvo beat Rampage netminder Spencer Martin with a shot from the point at 2:52. The Moose extended their lead to two shortly after Chase De Leo slid the puck past Martin 6:32 into the frame.
Just over seven minutes later, Manitoba’s leading rookie scorer Jack Roslovic gave the Moose a 3-0 lead at 13:34 of the period. Felix Girard helped San Antonio cut into the lead after finding the back of the net off a pass from Grimaldi and Compher with 16 seconds left in the period.
Kyle Connor notched his fourth goal of the weekend 27 seconds into the third stanza, regaining a three-goal lead for Manitoba. San Antonio cut the lead back to two midway through the period when Grimaldi collected his second power-play point of game, banking a shot from the top of the right circle with assists from Anton Lindholm and Compher at the 10:17 mark.
