The Cleveland Monsters fell to the Grand Rapids Griffins (43-9-3-1) 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Rocket Arena. With the loss, the Monsters are now 30-19-6-1 and are currently in third place in the AHL’s North Division standings.
Grand Rapids’ Tyler Angle struck first with a goal at 0:54 and Gabriel Seger added another at 11:48 to give the Griffins a 2-0 lead heading into the second.
Cleveland’s Roman Ahcan notched the only goal of the middle stanza at 3:02 assisted by Max McCue to make it 2-1 Griffins through 40 minutes.
Griffins’ Carter Mazur added one more at 8:48 of the closing frame to make the final score 3-1 Grand Rapids.
Cleveland’s Ivan Fedotov stopped 23 shots in defeat while Grand Rapids’ Michal Postava made 20 saves for the win.
