The final spot in the Division Finals round of the 2026 Kelly Cup Playoffs will be on the line on Wednesday when the Maine Mariners host the Adirondack Thunder in the 57th Game 7 in ECHL postseason history. The winner advances to meet Wheeling in the North Division Finals.
Maine’s only previous Game 7 was also against Adirondack in the 2024 North Division Semifinals, with the Thunder prevailing 2-0 in Glens Falls.
In addition to its win over Maine in 2024, Adirondack suffered a 3-2 loss in double overtime to South Carolina in Game 7 of the 2016 Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Thunder are seeking to become the 10th team in ECHL history to win a best-of-seven series after trailing 3 games to 1 and the fourth to win Games 6 and 7 of a series on the road. This is the 19th series that has has advanced to a Game 7 after a team had a 3-1 lead (out of 134).
The home team is 38-18 all-time in ECHL Game 7s and has won 25 of the last 36. Eleven Game 7s have gone beyond regulation, with four being decided in two overtimes and one in three overtimes. The home team has won eight of the 11 games decided in overtime.
