Kansas City’s Crawford wins ECHL scoring title

The ECHL on Sunday announced that Marcus Crawford of the Kansas City Mavericks has won the league scoring championship with 86 points (14g-72a).

Crawford is the first defensemen in the ECHL’s 38-year history to win the league scoring title.

Toledo’s Brandon Hawkins finished second with 78 points (35g-43a), followed by Brayden Watts of Allen with 75 points (24g-51a) and South Carolina’s Simon Pinard (30g-43a) and Utah’s Danny Dzhaniyev (24g-49a) with 73 points each.

Crawford, who was named to the All-ECHL First Team last week, also led the ECHL with 72 assists, 33 power-play assists and 39 power-play points while finishing tied for first among defensemen with 14 goals.
