Gulls Fall to Roadrunners 5-1

The San Diego Gulls fell to the Tucson Roadrunners tonight at Pechanga Arena San Diego, 5-1.

Matthew Phillips found the lone San Diego goal 27 seconds into the second period. Phillips has found 16 goals this season and 51 total points, extending his point streak to five games with 4-3=7 points found. Phillips was recently named San Diego’s team winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year.

Sam Colangelo and Stian Solberg picked up assists on the lone goal. Colangelo has tallied 1-6=7 points in his past five contests and holds 11-24=35 total this season. Solberg has found 1-3=4 points in his past five and holds 11-11=22 points this season.

Damian Clara made his second AHL appearance, facing 21 shots. The goaltender saved 16 of those, posting a 0.762 SV%.

The Gulls look to regain some momentum as they will next face their Southern California rivals, the Ontario Reign, on Friday, Apr. 17 at Toyota Arena (7 p.m. PDT).
