NORFOLK, Va. – The Newfoundland Growlers concluded their road trip on a positive note as they took out the Norfolk Admirals 3-0 on Saturday night at the Norfolk Scope.
Neither side found the back of the net in the first period as Newfoundland outshot Norfolk 13-8 through 20 minutes.
Brett Budgell finally broke the deadlock with 10 seconds remaining in the middle frame as he finished off some slick powerplay passing to give the Growlers a 1-0 lead going into the third.
Brandon Kruse provided an insurance tally six minutes into the third with a shorthanded snipe on the 2-on-1 to make it 2-0 Newfoundland.
Todd Skirving sealed with an empty netter in the final minute while Luke Cavallin made 28 saves to secure the shoutout and a 3-0 Newfoundland victory.
