Ducks regain first with 4-1 win over Flames

The Anaheim Ducks find themselves in first place in the Pacific Division after a 4-1 win Sunday night over the Calgary Flames.

Jonathan Bernier made 18 saves to get the win as the Ducks improved to 43-23-13 with 99 points on the season.

Anaheim leads the Edmonton Oilers by two points in the divisional race.

Patrick Eaves, who has proven to be a major addition to the Ducks, struck for a goal and Jakob Silfverberg, Korbinian Holzer and Logan Shaw added markers in the win.

“We can play anybody right now,” Ryan Kesler (three assists) said. “We made playoffs. That was our first goal. Our second goal starts in about a week. It’s two points. It’s important.”

The Flames got two goals from Kris Versteeg and a single marker from  Michael Frolik.

“You look at Edmonton, San Jose, Calgary … those are all teams that there’s a possibility we can meet first round,” Anaheim’s Cam Fowler said. “You like to see where you’re at. All teams seem to be playing well right now. Edmonton has tons of confidence. These guys (Calgary) too. It’s good to get some of those games under your belt.”

Brian Elliott made 30 saves to take the loss.

“We didn’t play it as a playoff game, I don’t think. They did. It was disappointing we didn’t come away with two points. It’s frustrating,” Elliott said of the Flames’ effort.
