Deeside Dragons boss Lol Paul is refusing to underestimate the threat posed by Hull Jets in Saturday night’s encounter at Chester Road.
The two teams meet just seven days after their previous Laidler Conference game in Humberside, a match Deeside won 8-3
But with the Jets having enjoyed a late surge to score twice in the third period, Paul will be guarded against a similar performance in Deeside.
He said: “The guys are riding high on confidence at the moment, which is crucial if we’re to keep up the pressure on the league leaders. The last thing we need is to lose on Saturday night.
“Momentum is so important at this stage of the season, especially with our game in Nottingham coming up the weekend after. I want us to be fully prepared for that match.
“We played well up in Hull, but there were some dangerous signs later on in the game. I am confident we’ll put in another good performance, but we can’t rest of our laurels.”
Paul believes his star-studded side is yet to reach its full potential, despite watching them rack up a remarkable 86 goals in just eleven games so far this season.
He added: “I watch our players in practice and I know they are ready to deliver a beating every time they step onto the ice. There are areas where we can improve, which what we’re constantly working on.
“When we finally hit our full potential, I think we’ll take control of the league. We’re just a point behind leaders Nottingham and with three games in hand we have an important advantage.
“Of course, points in the bag are more important, so Saturday night is extremely important for us. I want the fortress atmosphere at Deeside to continue being a real advantage for us.”
Saturday night’s game at Deeside Ice Rink, faces off at 7pm.
