CHL Power Ranking Poll for January 4

ODESSA, Texas – The Mississippi is rising in the CHL this week.

That image in the rearview mirror is a lot closer than the Eagles, Jacks and Brahmas care to acknowledge this week in our CHL Power Ranking Poll.   The RiverKings have shaken up the poll this week and leapt over the competition into 4th place.

The Oklahoma City Blazers and the MudBugs in Bossier-Shreveport were the victims of the RiverKings’ move.   The MudBugs especially are concerned as their lead in the Northeast Division has dwindled to precious few points.

opening round of the CHL playoffs.

The interesting battles in the CHL are right in the middle of the pack.   The Arizona SunDogs, defending CHL champs, are looking for daylight as they challenge the IceRays in Corpus Christi for one of the final playoff berths in the southern conference.

Meanwhile the bottom feeders of the CHL remain locked in their battle of futility.   The disappointing part of this sad story is the fan base in each city.   Clearly the fans are waiting for next year as the CHL solidifies its two-tier system of franchises.   The Amarillo Gorillas play with heart and Tony Martino has his Tulsa Oilers playing with more grit.   But heart and grit are not enough in this league.   At least there is hope in those two cities.

What will the CHL look like without a New Mexico franchise?
