Series Reviews:
Ferris State at Alaska
With an overtime victory on Saturday, Alaska would sweep the visiting Bulldogs for their CCHA opener.  The Nanooks would lead by Addison, Ontario native Scott Greenham in goal who continues his impressive play as a sophomore.  With the two game sweep of Ferris State, the Nanooks are picking up where they left off last season atop the CCHA standings.
Michigan at Lake Superior State Michigan scored 11 times against the Lakers to sweep the series in dominating fashion.  Wolverine’s goalie Bryan Hogan recorded 35 saves in 39 chances to help lead the Blue on Saturday night.  Hogan would also face 25 shots on Friday night stopping 24 as the #5 ranked Michigan Wolverines dominated early and often against the host Lake Superior St. Lakers.
Western Michigan at Michigan State The Broncos made Michigan St. work for their sweep this weekend as both games would be very tight in the entirety.  The Spartans won by out playing Western Michigan throughout the both games, always remaining a step ahead in order to earn their victories.
Bowling Green at Nebraska-Omaha Miami at Northern Michigan
Number one ranked Miami took care of business this weekend against the Wildcats – that is, in the second period.  The RedHawks would score four times in the second on Friday and twice on the power play Saturday to sweep Northern Michigan.  The Wildcats would play pretty even against Miami throughout the weekend and only fell short in equaling the RedHawks in goals scored.
Ohio State at Notre Dame The first “new overtime” system was used at the Joyce Center Saturday night as Ohio State would win the shootout picking up the bonus point.  While the game is officially a tie, the extra point is applied to Ohio State’s CCHA standings.  Friday night offered a wonderful performance from Notre Dame Freshman netminder, Mike Johnson who would allow one goal on 27 shots for the victory.
Players of the Week (from the CCHA):
