The Devils made the perfect start, going ahead just 39 seconds into the game when Kohen Olischefski finished from Josh MacDonald and Joey Martin to extend Cardiff’s aggregate lead.

That was the only goal of the opening period, but Cardiff took full control in the second. MacDonald doubled the lead on the powerplay at 25:23, finishing from Martin and Kristoff Kontos, before Martin added another powerplay goal at 29:18 from Kontos and Gleason Fournier. Just 21 seconds later, Riley Brandt made it 4-0 on the night, assisted by Brett Perlini.

Coventry got one back in the third period through William Boysen at 50:25, with Alessio Luciani and Colton Saucerman drawing the assists, but the Blaze could not find any further way back into the tie.

It was, in the end, a comfortable win for the Devils with the Blaze unable to generate anything more.
