Cardiff Devils marked the return of hockey for the 2026/27 season with an 8-5 win over Denmark’s Odense Bulldogs.
After going behind early in the opening period, goals from Brandon Estes, Ryan Barrow and Riley Brandt put the Devils on three, while Kristian Jensen scored his second of the game to leave the Bulldogs on two after the opening 20 minutes.
Joey Martin and Nolan Yaremko added to Cardiff’s tally in the second period before Maxime Trepanier pulled one back for Odense. Goals from Tom Caron and Brandt, either side of one from Radim Pruotek, then put the Devils 7-4 ahead through two periods.
Mathias Klove Mogensen and Martin scored one for each team in the final period to make the final score 8-5.
The third period also saw several players ejected from the game. Kohen Olischefski was assessed a game misconduct for Slashing, while later Brandt for Checking from Behind, Evan Mosey for Fighting and Martin Larsen for Dangerous Action took no further part in the game. Late on, Jimmy Oligny and Maksim Popovic were also ejected for Fighting.
