BASINGSTOKE UK: The Bison start the defence of their EPL crown on Saturday night, when the Telford Tigers are the visitors to Hampshire, before their first road game of the campaign away at Hull.
On paper it looks a tricky start for the Herd against the 2014/15 champions Telford and a much improved Hull side.
However, the Bison have had an excellent pre-season which saw them reel off three straight wins, the last being on Wednesday night on home ice against the Swindon Wildcats after a double success over Guildford.
The only down side of the evening, was star import Rene Jarolin suffered a bad cut to his face, which could make him a doubt for the weekend.
On the plus side, British forward Vanya Antonov has really slotted in well for the Bison and scored a brace in the 4-3 win over Swindon.
Now of course the games are for real and Bison head coach Doug Sheppard knows all the teams in the league will want to beat the reigning champions.
“Every team will want to beat us every night we know that, but I am pleased with the way pre-season has gone. We now want to get our title defence off to a good start.
“We had a good record at home last year and we want to continue this,” said Bison head coach Sheppard.
