From the very early days of the team’s inception, Coach Curcio has been clear regarding his desire to secure an affiliation with the Sharks.
“To become affiliated with the San Jose Sharks is a goal we’ve had since we founded the team last year. We look forward to developing young prospects in the San Jose Sharks system that will ultimately make an impact in the AHL and NHL in the near future. Our ultimate goal is to help the Sharks win a championship,” said Curcio earlier this year.
San Jose Sharks Vice President and assistant general manager Wayne Thomas was also pleased with the Bulls and Sharks partnership.
“We are very excited to add the San Francisco Bulls as out ECHL development affiliate. Our organizations share the same passion to put a strong, competitive product on the ice as well as being an active member in our shared Bay Area communities.”
With the Bulls AHL and NHL affiliations established we can expect Curcio to announce more player signings in the coming days and weeks as he continues to fill out his roster. Curcio introduced the team’s first ever player signing at a June 27 press conference in San Francisco. Forward Peter Sivak joined the Bulls after completing a career year with MsHK Zilina Extraliga which is part of Slovakia’s top professional ice hockey league.
The Bulls will host an exhibition game against the Stockton Thunder on Wednesday October 3 at 7:15 PM at the Cow Palace. The Bulls regular season will get underway at the Cow Palace Friday October 12, at 7:15.
