INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – A physical game it was Friday evening at the Independence Events Center where nine of the 15 penalties called were for roughing. The game was settled 25 seconds into the overtime period when Kenton Miller beat Allen goalie Aaron Dell for the win but the battle was even-keeled throughout the contest as the Missouri Mavericks defended their home ice against the visiting Allen Americans. Referee Zak Blazik called 15 penalties on the night – Missouri was assessed 21 minutes on nine infractions and Allen received 15 minutes on six infractions. The penalty count: Roughing: Nine High-Sticking: One Tripping: Two Interference: One Fighting (Major): Two Missouri’s Riley Emmerson and Allen’s Kip Brennan dropped the gloves at the 13:13 mark of the opening frame.
