PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Denver Cuttroats @ Fort Worth Brahmas 12/8/12

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas – Dean Strong forced overtime with a goal in the closing minutes of period three and the Denver Cutthroats scored a pair of goals in the shootout to top the Fort Worth Brahmas on Saturday night by a 4-3 final at the NYTEX Sports Centre in front of 1,289.
Jamie MacQueen and Luke Fulghum each scored for the Cutthroats in the shootout. Kent Patterson turned away all four shooters he faced for the Brahmas to improve to 2-0 in shootouts this season. Patterson has now won his last five starts for the Cutthroats.
Brad Smyth extended his point streak to nine games for the Cutthroats with a pair of assists.  Troy Schwab also extended his point streak to five games with a goal and an assist on the night.
Strong’s third period tally came from the slot with 1:34 left in regulation and knotted the score at 3-3 after Sy Nutkevich had pushed the Brahmas ahead less than two minutes earlier. 
Ben Wilson also scored for the Cutthroats in the third to tie the game at 2-2 at 5:34 of the period on assists from Smyth and Phil Tesoriero.
Fort Worth’s Phil Fox opened up the scoring four minutes into the game on a rebound goal for his 10th of the season.
Schwab made it a 1-1 game when his wrist shot from the left circle found the back of the net for his seventh of the year from Smyth midway through period two. 
Ross Rouleau’s slap shot goal from the point put the Brahmas back in front at 12:36 of the second.
Kris Westblom took the loss for the Brahmas stopping 27.  The Cutthroats finished 0-for-4 on the power play. The Brahmas went 0-for-2.
