Ontario defeats Condors

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. Evan Trupp gave the Bakersfield Condors (5-11-1-2, 13 points) the quickest Teddy Bear Toss goal in team history, but the Ontario Reign (12-5-0-0, 24 points) scored six unanswered goals and won 7-3 in front of 8,388 fans at Rabobank Arena on Saturday night.
Trupp’s goal at 1:13 of the first period brought the downpour of teddy bears and gave the Condors a 1-0 lead, as he slammed home a rebound of an Alex Hudson shot. The Reign would equalize at the 6:03 mark with C.J. Stretch picking up his first of the night to make it 1-1. Bakersfield would jump out to a 3-1 lead with a power-play tally from in tight by Jacob Lagace at 11:08 and a hardworking goal from Zach Cohen at 13:45. However, the lead would not last as Brock Sheahan (14:14) and NHL’er Kyle Clifford (16:47) tied the game at 3-3 before the break. The Reign outshot the Condors, 10-7.
Ontario tacked on two more goals in the second period to extend their lead to 5-3. Stretch got his second of the night at 10:41 and Dan DaSilva extended the lead to two at 15:41 off a screened shot from the slot. Bakersfield was outshot, 7-3. The third period belonged to the Reign as they scored twice to take the game, 7-3. Stretch scored both goals to finish with four goals on the evening.
