Checkers’ Zach Boychuk signs a new contract

CHARLOTTE, NC –   Zachj Boychuk, 22, has signed a one year contract   that will pay him $625,000 on the NHL level and $105,000 on the AHL level. Last season Boychuk divided his playing time between the Hurricanes and the Checkers. He played in 16 NHL games earning two assists and the led the Checkers with 21 goals, ranking third among Charlotte players with 44 points in 64 AHL games.
 
A 14th overall pick in the NHL Entry Draft in 2008, Boychuk has scored seven goals and earned 11 assists in 72 NHL games for the Hurricanes. He has 58 goals and 88 assists in 178 career AHL games with Albany and Charlotte.
 
Before he turned professional, Boychuk played in 237 regular-season games over four seasons with the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League. During this time he scored 110 goals and had 161 assists. He also won gold medals with Canada at the 2008 and 2009 World Junior Championships.
