Checkers sign goalie Rob Madore

CHARLOTTE, NC – Rob Madore, 24, a Pittsburg native signed a two-way AHL contract with the Checkers. Recently Madore finished his college career as a four-year starter with the University of Vermont. His record for the school was 41-64-20 with a 2.91 goals-against average, .902 save percentage and five shutouts.
 
He played 12 regular season games for the Chicago Express and five play-off games with the South Carolina Stingrays. His combined record for both these teams was 10-6-1 with a 2.53 goals against average, .918 save percentage and one shutout.
 
In the postseason Madore had two wins in overtime, he made 54 saves in his play-off debut against Gwinnett in a four-overtime victory. Then two days later he made 39 stops in another 4-3 victory, this time in double overtime.
 
Madore is 5’10” and weighs 179 lbs, he was selected for the Hockey East All-Academy Team in 2010-11. During that season he was named defensive player of the week on six occasions. In junior hockey he played for the Chicago Steel of the USHL from 2006-8.
