Checkers agree to terms with Chris Terry

CHARLOTTE, NC – Chris Terry, the Checkers leading scorer for last season has been given a two year, two way contract. In the first year Terry will receive $525.000 at the NHL level, or $90,000 at the AHL level with a guarantee of $105,000. In the second year, he will receive $525,000 in the NHL, or $105,000 in the AHL.
 
The Brampton, Ontario native completed his third full professional season in 2011-12. He led the Charlotte Checkers with 43 assists and 59 points in 74 games played. He ranked seventh in the AHL with assists and tied for fourth with 26 power-play assists.
 
During his career with Albany and Charlotte this 5’ 10” 190 lb player has scored 67 goals, earned 103 assists and accumulated 166 penalty points in 235 regular season games. The Hurricanes drafted Terry in the fifth round, 132 overall, in the 2007 NHL entry draft.
 
The Carolina Hurricanes open their 2012 exhibition schedule on September 26 at Columbus and play their first exhibition home game on September 28 against Nashville Predators.
