SHEFFIELD, U.K.- The Sheffield Steeldogs have announced the re-signing of academy trained forward, Andrew Hirst, in what will be his third season with the club.
Hirst played for Sheffield at U16 level with the Greyhounds and Rapiers, and at U19 level with the Steelhawks and the Steel City Scorpions. The Doncaster born forward has also represented Great Britain in the U18 World Junior Championships.
During Hirst’s 2011/12 campaign with the Steeldogs, the 29 year old recorded a total of 18 points, scoring six goals and generating 12 assists.
Steeldogs Head Coach, Andre Payette, said, “ Andrew is one of our hardest working players.”
“He works hard every shift and I am excited to have him back.”
“I thought Andrew came on in leaps and bounds last year and I expect to see more of the same next year”.
Hirst expressed his excitement in returning for another season with the Steeldogs, “I’m extremely happy to be back with the guys. Last year our team really came together as the closest group I have ever played with.”
“On a personal level, I look forward to improving my offensive contribution and I would love to score a few more points this year to help my team”.
