Zucker scores, Dubnyk stops ’em all in 1-0 Wild win over Flyers

PHILADELPHIA – The Minnesota Wild tandem of Jason Zucker  and Devan Dubnyk made sure the Flyers were disappointed Saturday.

Zucker scored his seventh goal in the last three games and Dubnyk stopped 32 shots as the Wild defeated the Flyers, 1-0.

Zucker has scored the last six goals for the Wild, a franchise record.

“I’d like somebody else to score a goal if that’s OK,” Minnesota coach Bruce Boudreau said. “As long as he keeps getting them and we keep winning, we’re going good. Been awhile since I’ve seen somebody get this many goals in a row for a team. As long as he’s feeling it and we get a little bit of success, that’s good.”

The game-winner came early in the third period as the puck came off the end boards and Zucker had the opportunity to wrist it home.

“It had a lot of spin off the boards, so when it hit my stick, it just shot off and honestly I couldn’t tell you what it hit,” Zucker said. “Just a lucky bounce.”

Dubnyk has two straight shutouts after beating the Montreal Canadiens, 3-0.

“[Dubnyk] was playing great again,” Zucker said. “Looked like he did last game. He was steady, he was calm, and that’s huge for us. When your goalie is like that back there, that’s great. I think we’re all fumbling the puck a little bit but knowing he’s back there playing well is huge for us.”

Brian Elliott made 26 saves in the loss as the Flyers dropped to 8-72.

“We got some chances, we just didn’t bury them,” the Flyers’ Wayne Simmonds said. “Dubnyk played well. They played five guys packed in, in front of the net. We probably needed to pop a guy out or pop a guy up top or something like that. Thought we played a good game, just couldn’t execute and get a puck in the net.”
