Zito Hat-Trick Not Enough in The North

North Bay, ON – The Niagara IceDogs started off their road trip tonight in North Bay, falling 9-3 for their first of 3 games in this weekends northern road trip.

The Battalion drew first blood on the power-play just over 3 minutes into the contest. A goal 26 seconds later, followed by another power-play marker, the IceDogs found themselves in a 3 goal deficit at the end of the first frame.

The beginning of the second period started off in the IceDogs favour early on. At 1:29, off of a Sirizzotti pass, Kevin He set up Pasquale Zito on the zone entry for a one-timer. Less than a minute later North Bay answered with another goal and tallied 3 more to take a commanding lead after 40 minutes into the game. The score read 7-1 at the end of the second period.

Just under 8 minutes into the third and final period, the Battalion extended their lead. Not long after, Gerard Keane shutdown a breakaway and shifted the momentum down the ice for Aidan Castle to dish it to Pasquale Zito who finds his second of the night. After going down by another, a third goal from Zito off of the face off dot marked a hat-trick for the IceDogs forward in tonights loss.

The IceDogs are back in action tomorrow in Sudbury for a 7:05 puck drop and their second game of three straight.
