Zegras’ late goal lifts Ducks over Boston

In Anaheim, Trevor Zegras scored with 22 seconds left in regulation on Tuesday to give the Ducks a 4-3 win over the visiting Boston Bruins.

“It was a lot of fun,” Zegras said. “Give credit to my teammates. Great plays all around by everybody on that last goal. It was nice to get the win, for sure.”

The goal came off a late power play for Anaheim.

John Gibson made 31 saves in the Anaheim win.

“The last couple weeks I didn’t think we did that great of a job of staying level-headed and just playing through the game,” the Ducks’ Ryan Getzlaf said. “Those are the things that we were doing a lot better early in the year, not getting rattled in certain situations, so I thought we did a good job of that tonight.”

The Ducks improved to 26-21-9.

“[The Ducks] haven’t won in a while, they were ready to go,” Boston coach Bruce Cassidy said. “They probably saw the score the night before and that gets their attention.”

The Ducks took a 1-0 lead in the first period off a strike from Rickard Rakell  on the power play.

Nick Foligno got the Bruins even at 1-1, before the Ducks replied with two goals in 70 seconds.

“The role that I’m in right now is, obviously, a little more defensive-minded and simple, so I’m trying to make sure I do that for the club,” Foligno said. “It’s always nice to contribute.”

Isac Lundestrom and Adam Henrique put the Ducks up, 3-1.

Brandon Carlo and David Pastrnak scored for Boston to get them back to eve, 3-3.

Linus Ullmark made 24 saves in the Bruins loss.

“Typically, in back-to-backs, we’ve been fine, but the first period is the period you need to get through,” Cassidy said. “It’s 1-1 with, what, a few minutes to go. It looked like we were going to get through it, even though we weren’t at our best.”
