LONDON,U.K- Following in the trend of Vancouver Canucks netminder Roberto Loungo, the English National league South side Haringey Greyhounds have announced netminder David Wride will captain the team for the 2008-09 season. Like Loungo the 5’4″ shot stopper will not be able to wear the ‘C’ on his shirt.
The NHL doesnt allow netminders to wear the letter on thier shirt but Loungo found a way round that having the ‘C’ emblazed on his face guard. As yet there are no plans for Wride to do the same and will continue with his plain face cage abiding by the same rules the ENL follow. Wride, in his second stint with the London based franchise after spending last season as back up netminder in Milton Keynes for the Lightning, has had a difficult start to the season and will look to lead the Greyhounds to their first victory following six losses and one draw.
