The Wranglers fell 3-2 in overtime in Tucson, Dryden Hunt and William Stromgren scoring for Calgary.
The visitors struck first in the opening frame when Hunt finished off a tic-tac-toe play in tight, snapping home a feed from Stromgren at the side of the Tucson crease.
The Roadrunners answered back via Noel Nordh, levelling the score midway through the period.
The Wranglers pushed back before the intermission, restoring their lead thanks to Stromgren.
Carter King sparked the rush by carrying the puck out of the Wranglers zone, dishing to Stromgren in the left circle.
Stromgren drove hard to the top of the crease and roofed it past Jaxson Stauber to make it 2-1 after 20 minutes.
Neither team was able to break through in a scoreless second.
Tucson clawed even in the third period as Max Szuber beat Arsenii Sergeev.
Overtime saw the Roadrunners find the winner, as Sammy Walker ended it to secure the extra point for Tucson.
The Wranglers settled for one point from the back half of the double header.
Sergeev was solid between the pipes for Calgary, turning aside 31 shots.
