ROSEMONT, IL It was a Wild evening at the Allstate Arena. The Chicago Wolves faced off against the Iowa Wild in their first meeting this season.

Alex Lyon denied all 30 shots as the Chicago Wolves earned a 2-0 victory over the Wild Thursday night.Â
Wolves defenseman Jesper Sellgren and forward Same Miletic scored for the first place Wolves (12-4-1-1) and have won their fourth straight game and expanded their lead in the American Hockey League Central Division.Â
Lyon (5-1-1) earned his seventh career shutout and his first for Chicago. The Wolves halted the league’s leader in shots per game to 6. The Wolves stopped all five Iowa power plays. This included Iowa when they pulled their goaltender with two in the waning minutes with a 6-on-4 advantage.Â
The Wolves would score with just 1:57 into the game. Wolves Forward David Gust took the puck into the offensive zone while waiting for backup of his teammates. Gust would get a pass back for Sellgren, he would blaze a one-timer through Iowa goaltender Dereck Baribeau for his first North American professional goal.
The Wolves outshot Iowa (9-6-1-0) by 15-1 margin just in the first period. Lyon stopped 13 shots in the second period.Â
Miletic would give the Wolves a boost to a 2-0 lead at 1:18 into the third. Iowa in the offensive zone when a forward tried to pass it to the point. Miletic races for the opportunity past two defensemenÂ
Chicago outshot Iowa (9-6-1-0) by a 15-1 margin in the first period, then Lyon stepped forward to stop 13 shots in the second.collected the puck between the circles and slipped it past Baribeau for his second goal of the season.
Baribeau (4-5-0) had 35 saves for Iowa, but it wouldn’t be enough.Â
The Wolves head on a five-game road trip to Iowa and Texas before returning home to face the Manitoba Moose on Thursday, Dec. 16, and the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday, Dec. 18.
