Wolves Skull Admirals with a 4-2 Win

ROSEMONT, IL The Chicago Wolves (6-2-0-0) reunited from a loss the night before and earned a 4-2 triumph Sunday afternoon at the Allstate Arena.

Wolves Artyom Serikov, Max Lajoie and Jalen Chatfield and forward David Gust scored for the Wolves who are currently leading the Central Division as they improved to 4-0 against the Admirals.

The Wolves had a bit of a slow start when Milwaukee (3-5-0-0) gained a 2-0 lead with just 6:05 in the first period. Forwards Matt Luff and Cole Smith posted power-play goals 46 seconds apart.

However, the Wolves were hungry and pulled back with a 2-2 tie by the 13:51 mark of the first. Serikov, who is a 20 year old rookie from Russia earned his first goal in North America when Maxim Letunov won the draw on a faceoff and went to Serikov and blasted a shot top of the net at 11:32.

Wolves would make it a 2-2 tie when defensemen Lajoie found himself outside the crease. Forward Josh Leivo rockets a shot from the point that bounced off the boards and finds its way to Lajoie where he would put it in the net past Milwaukee goaltender Devin Cooley for his first goal of the season.

The Wolves wouldn’t stop there, 3:25 of the third they would score when C.J. Smith passes the puck to set up Chatfield for a one-timer. Chatfield saucers over Cooley’s right shoulder for a 3rd goal of the season.

The Admirals would pull their goalie with 3:22 left to tie, but Gust would put the puck in for an empty netter from the Wolves defensive zone and would conclude the game 4-2 with 2:43 to go.

Wolves goaltender Eetu Makiniemi (4-1-0) posted 25 saves to earn the win while Cooley (1-4-0) stopped 24 of 27 shots in the loss.
