Hoffman Estates, IL The Chicago Wolves faced off in a brutal contest, but pull away with a 5 to 3 win Saturday night at the Triphahn Center. The Wolves come home to their first and final preseason game after being on the road and losing to the Admirals Thursday evening 5 to 3.
The Admirals came out hard on the Wolves, but the Wolves did not take it. The Wolves (1-1) in the preseason would open the scoring when Wolves left winger #37 Sam Miletic comes down the ice on a breakaway to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead in the first.
The Wolves outshooting the Admirals 14 to 4 in the first in favor of the Wolves. Second period underway and would leave the Wolves with a tie game. Milwaukee scores to tie things up in the 2nd.
3rd period and the Wolves would put the pressure on Milwaukee. Wolves defenseman . #28 Josh Jacobs would slap one home to give the Wolves a 2 to 1 lead in the third period.
The Wolves don’t stop there, Sam Miletic scores again for his second of the evening and that would put the Wolves up 3 to 1 in the third period. But Milwaukee had other plans. Former Chicago Wolves left winger Cole Smith would put Milwaukee back in the game with a 3-2 score in the third.
Milwaukee would then tie the game up when former Wolves player Anthony Richard gets one in with 4:41 left to play. Leaving the Wolves to go back to the drawing board, but it wouldn’t be for long. Wolves score a goal with 2 minutes on the clock when forward #14 Blake Murray scores.
Milwaukee pulls their goalie for an extra attacker, but fails as Wolves forward #22 Andrew Poturalski buried it to give the Wolves a solid lead and they go to lead 5 to 3 and win.
The Wolves take on the Rockford Icehogs next Saturday to start the 2021-22 season.
