READING, PA – The Windsor Spitfires and Calgary Hitmen have won the OHL and WHL championships and have earned the right to play in this year’s Memorial Cup tournament. Both teams will now wait to find out who will grab the last piece of the puzzle in the tournament by watching the QMJHL playoffs where the Saint John Sea Dogs and Moncton Wildcats are tied at 2-2. Game five is tonight with Game Six to be played on Monday. Spitfires won the Robertson Cup for the second straight season with a four game sweep over the Barrie Colts. The Spitfires are the defending Memorial Cup champions winning it last season in Rimouski, QC. This year’s tournament will be held in Brandon, MB with the host Wheat Kings in as an automatic participant which begins next Friday. In the WHL, the Hitmen won the Ed Chynoweth Cup after winning game five the Tri-City Americans 4-1 Friday night.
