SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Sharks clinched a third place position in postseason for the Pacific Division with a 6-3 loss to the Minnesota Wild at SAP Center. The win would have given them second place, but it wasn’t meant to be. Third place will do, with 100 points for the season, behind the Ducks. he Wild had previously secured the third seat in the Central Division.
In the game, Devan Dubnyk made 27 saves for the Wild’s win, while Martin Jones had 14 saves in the loss allowing five goals until he was pulled in favor of Aaron Dell in the opening of the third period.
Jason Zucker scored two of the Wild’s goals, and the others came off the sticks of Jonas Brodin, Matt Cullen, Mikael Granlund, and Eric Staal. Three unanswered goals in the second period helped to keep them in the lead.
The three Sharks goals were scored by Brent Burns, Joe Pavelski and Timo Meier.
