Wild win third straight in Denver, 4-3

The last few weeks in St Paul have not been pleasant for the Minnesota Wild.

But Thursday night they found a way to a 4-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche in Denver.

Mikael Granlund, Nino Niederreiter, Jason Zucker and Nate Prosser struck for the Wild goals.

“I thought we played with more jump and more pace in the third period,” Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau said. “We were lucky to get out of the second period with a tie. We had a chance to regroup and came back in the third.”

Devan Dubnyk made 30 saves to get the win, his 40th of the year.

“It’s exciting and also gives us an opportunity to pass [the records] on Saturday,” Dubnyk said. “It’s been a great season for us.

“There’s not a lot of guys each year that get to 40 wins, so it’s a good bar to set. I thought I was going to get a little higher at the beginning of March, so it took a little longer than I planned on. But if you could tell me at the start of the year that I was going to finish the season with 40 wins, I would have probably said, ‘Yeah, sure.'”

Matt Nieto, Francois Beauchemin and Tyson Jost scored for the Avs.

The win tied a Wild franchise record for 48 wins and 104 points on the season.

“It tells you we’re doing something right this season and winning games. It’s nice to break those records, but we want something more from this season,” Minnestoa’s Mikael Granlund said of the records.
