Wild thrash Caps, 5-1 Update to follow

In Washington, DC, Cam Talbot made 25 saves, and the Minnesota Wild defeated the Capitals, 5-1, on Sunday.

Minnesota’s Joel Eriksson Ek hit for a double and three points in the win.

Garnet Hathaway was the lone striker for the Caps, his goal came after the Wild had taken a 4-0 lead into the third period.

The Caps have lost four of their last six matches and dropped to 37-22-10.

Eriksson Ek g scored his first of the game with 38 seconds gone in the game, Tyson Jost scored to push the lead to 2-0, the strike came 61 seconds after the opener.

Eriksson Ek’s second goal came early in the middle period for a 3-0 lad.

Marcus Foligno extended the lead to 4-0 early in the third frame.

The Wild’s Nicolas Deslauriers added an empty-net goal with just under three minutes left in the game.

Vitek Vanecek made 14 saves in the loss.
