Wild rally late, down Pens on skills

In Pittsburgh, the Penguins had win locked up, sealed, and mailed.

The Minnesota Wild’s Ryan Hartman scored with 2.2 seconds left on the regulation clock to tie the game, 4-4, on Saturday night.

The Wild trailed 2-4 late in the third before rallying.

“Just a scramble at the net,” Hartman said. “Got it out to [Dumba]. I thought [Dumba] was going to score. I was just looking at the net.”

Cam Talbot made 35 saves for the Minnesota win.

The wild improved to 7-3-0.

Kasperi Kapanen picked up his first NHL hat trick for the Penguins.

“Obviously, it feels good, but you can’t really deny the way the game ended,” Kapanen said. “Really doesn’t feel as good as I wish it would. But it’s a big weight kind of lifted off my shoulders. But like I said, we can’t lose a game like that.”

Nick Bjugstad scored in the skills competition and was credited with the deciding goal.

“Enjoyed my time here,” Bjugstad said. “But definitely coming into this rink and getting the win the way we did, up to the last second, fighting back. It’s a fun one. Fun, emotional win. Definitely excited.”

Jared Spurgeon struck for two goals for Minnesota.

Minnesota has trailed six of their seven wins.

“It says we can’t hold a lead, that’s what it says,” Wild head coach Dean Evason said. “We have to understand that teams don’t quit. This is the National Hockey League. … But we were very resilient. The group just stayed the course.”

Kirill Kaprizov also scored for the Wild.

Pittsburgh dropped to 4-3-3.

Jake Guentzel had a single marker for the Pens.

Tristan Jarry made 36 saves in the Penguins loss.
