In St Paul, Marcus Foligno scored in extra time on Saturday to give the Minnesota Wild a 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Wild needed a late strike from Kevin Fiala to force the extra session.
The goal came with less than three minute remaining on the third period clock
“[Fiala] made a good play coming through the neutral zone and created a lot of space for me, and I didn’t really have a passing option honestly, so I threw it at the net,” Minnesota’s Jeff Greenway said. “Thought we had some bodies around there and [Fiala] found a way to put it in. And then [Foligno], same thing. I just passed it to him this time.
“Obviously I had a point on both of them, but it was a good effort out of the whole squad. [Kahkonen] made some huge saves for us. A lot of guys had a good game tonight.”
Kaapo Kahkonen made 33 saves for the Wild win, he was pulled for the extra attacker on the tying goal. It was the 13th goal the Wild have scored with an empty net behind them.
“Yeah, I mean, the puck bounces our way and we get some goals,” the Wild’s Mats Zuccarello said. “Some of it is luck and we’ve got some good skilled guys out there that can make plays and do the job. We’ve been good at that.”
Greenway assisted on both the trying, and game-winning goals.
Henrik Borgstrom scored twice for the Blackhawks.
Borgstrom  and Alex DeBrincat combined for an early 2-0 lead for Chicago.
“Great response,” Blackhawks head coach Derek King said. “Totally different team from last night, so very happy with our effort, our compete level. Could have got some bounces go in for us, but that’s hockey. We’ll take that point and move on and build off it.”
Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek rallied the Wild back for a 2-2 tie.
Kevin Lankinen made 40 saves in the Hawks loss.
“Yeah, it’s tough,” Borgstrom said. “I feel like we needed this, and we played really well. It could have gone either way.”
