In San Jose, Barclay Goodrow scored in latter stages of the third period to blunt a Minnesota Wild rally that overcame a two-goal deficit.
The goal gave the Sharks a 4-3 win.
“Whenever he gets it I just try to get to the net,” Goodrow said. “The puck’s going to go there. I just was able to get a stick on it. I found a way.”
Martin Jones made 23 save sin the win as the Sharks improved to 8-4-3
“Obviously the beginning of the third period didn’t go the way we wanted but I felt like we didn’t take a step back. We kind of pushed the pace a little once it was tied up. It was get to get that fourth goal and hang on for the win,” Goodrow said.
Zach Parise, Jared Spurgeon and Matt Dumba scored for the Wild who could not quite get that goal to take the lead in the third period.
“We gave them four goals,” Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau said. “Our mistakes were really egregious. We can’t do this to a team like this that has a lot of scoring power. I thought when we tied it up, then we went into a shell after that for whatever reason. We should’ve kept going at them. We had them on the run a little bit and we let them off the hook.”
Marcus Sorensen, Joe Thornton and Antti Suomela helped build the 3-1 lead for San Jose.
“They’re a good team. When they get the opportunities they’re good at putting them in the net. The way their defense can shoot the puck, the way those guys can shoot the puck and get the pucks through, I think they’re probably one of the best teams in the league at going to the net,” Parise said after the game.

Devan Dubnyk made 18 saves in the loss as the Wild dropped to 8-4-2.
“This is a hard place to come in and play,” Minnesota forward Matt Hendricks said. “They’ve got a really good team over there, they play hard. We had an opportunity to win the game and we let it slip through our fingers a little bit.”
