The Minnesota Wild finished off the regular season Saturday on a high note with a win over the Arizona Coyotes to complete the campaign with a 49-25-8 record.
That win gave them franchise marks for wins and points, 106.
Next up for the Wild are the St Louis Blues.
“They defend well, they have and lot of skill up front and they are well-coached, so it’s the whole package we’re going to face,” Wild captain Mikko Koivu said. “Both teams are familiar with each other when you face a division opponent, so it should be a good matchup.”
Darcy Kuemper made 20 saves to get the win for Minnesota.
Erik Haula, Martin Hanzal and Eric Staal scored for the Wild.
“They don’t really have a weakness,” Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau said of the matchup with the Blues. “They’ve got six good defensemen, they have four lines that can go, especially with the addition of (Vladimir) Sobotka and their goalie (Jake Allen) has been on fire since the change (to coach Mike Yeo). Our work is cut out for us, but I’ve seen our team all year and when we need to rise to the challenge, I think we will.”
Brendan Perlini was the lone goal scorer for the Coyotes.
