In Anaheim, Filip Gustavsson made 31 saves and the Minnesota Wild defeated the Ducks, 4-1, on Wednesday night.
Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov hit for two power play goals in the win.
“He’s clearly one of the best players in the League,” Minnesota coach Dean Evason said. “He has the puck all the time.”
The Wild improved to 6-6-1.
Pavol Regenda was the lone striker for the Ducks.
“It’s difficult losing. You put a lot of effort into these games and we’re losing a lot more than we’d like to right now,” Anaheim defenseman Cam Fowler said. “Just got to dust ourselves off and get ready for Saturday (against the Chicago Blackhawks).”
Anaheim dropped to 4-9-1.
Following a scoreless first period, Regenda gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead.
“It’s amazing, it’s a dream, so I’m so happy it went in,” Regenda said. “I think it was great work from the whole line and I’m so happy it can be at Honda Center.”
Kaprizov tied it, 1-1, with his first power play strike of the game.
“The whole group took a sigh,” Evason said.
The Wild scored three times in the third period, taking advantage of the Ducks skating four defensemen in the third period. Kevin Shattenkirk and Nathan Beaulieu left the ice with apparent injuries.
“Going down to four defensemen is not ideal,” Â Fowler said. “Obviously, [Shattenkirk and Beaulieu] are a big part of the team, so wishing them a speedy recovery, but injuries are a part of the game and we had to hang in there.”
The Wild’s Matt Dumba scored at 1:41 of the third for a 2-1 lead to Minnesota.
At 3:23 Kaprizov hit for his second power play goal on a 5-on-3 for a 3-1 lead.
Joseph Cramarossa extended the lead to 4-1 just past the midway point of the third period.
“It was a good forecheck, both of our forwards got up the ice and I was kind of just trailing in there,” Cramarossa said. “Seeing where it popped out, it just came right to my stick, so I kind of closed my eyes and threw it on net.”
John Gibson made 35 saves in the Anaheim loss.
