With Corey Perry sidelined with a knee injury, the Anaheim Ducks recalled Kevin Roy who promptly struck twice in a 3-1 Ducks win over the Blues in St Louis Thursday night.
“I got to go to dinner, then they called me to come back,” Roy said. “I was pretty happy. It felt pretty good to get the win here and make a difference. A big win here to start the
road trip.
“I try to come here, make a difference and make the best of my chances.”
John Gibson made 29 saves to pick up the win.
“You have to credit our penalty killing with a stellar night (4-for-4). We held a pretty good power play off the score sheet. I think our goaltender was strong in the nets and I think we played kind of a tidy road game. We didn’t give much up,” Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said after the game.
Patrik Berglund had the lone Blues goal in their second straight home loss.
“We can play more desperate to get more bodies in front of the net,” Berglund said. “It looked like we got a lot of shots blocked today too (19). We’ve got to be more desperate, especially at home. We’ve just got bear down and play better hockey.”
St Louis dropped to 21-10-2 while the Ducks improved to 14-11-7.
Andrew Cogliano also scored for the Ducks.
“We know where they are in the standings (leading the Western Conference) and how good of a team they are. They bring out the best in us,” Cogliano said after the win.

Jake Allen made 15 saves in taking the loss.
The Blues have had issues scoring and it cost them their second straight home game.
“It’s execution again. We’ve been trying to manage the rest here and making sure. Obviously we’re playing a lot of games in a lot of days, and with that, obviously we’ve lacked some practice time,” Blues head coach Mike Yeo said after the loss. “We’re going to hit the ice [Friday] and just the opportunity to get out there and execute the day before the game [Saturday], that will help,”
