In Dallas Friday night, Jason Spezza broke a scoreless tie in the third period to give the Stars a 1-0 lead over the Minnesota Wild.
But that was all offense the Stars would get as they surrendered three goals to the WIld in a 3-1 loss.
“After the goal, we stopped playing,” Stars coach Jim Montgomery said. “We started managing the game. Our puck pressure disappeared, and our game management disappeared. It’s frustrating for everybody.”
The Stars left all their offense in the middle frame when they took 24 shots on Devan Dubnyk who made 33 saves for the game to get the win for Minnesota.
“I feel patient, and that’s a big part of my game,” Dubnyk said.
Matt Dumba tied the game and Ryan Suter struck for the game winner just past the midway point of the third period.
“On the bench, you could feel there was something like, ‘OK, we scored. Who’d a thunk we were going to score?'” Minnesota coach Bruce Boudreau said. “Then, all of a sudden, we kept going. We didn’t want to try to take the foot off the gas, and I don’t think we did the last 10 minutes.”
Zach Parise added an empty net goal to close out the scoring.
“Hockey is a funny game,” Boudreau said. “When they scored their goal, it looked like we put it in another gear. I was really impressed that we shut them down.”

Ben Bishop made 33 saves in the loss.
“Banking one off our guy, that’s kind of the difference in the game,” Bishop said.
