WHITBY—Stoney Creek Generals jumped into a 3-0 lead in the first 12 minutes of play only to have the wheels fall off as the Whitby Dunlops rallied for a 7-4 victory over the Generals in the lone Allan Cup Hockey game tonight in the Iroquois Sports Complex.
Second place Whitby now has a record of 11 wins, 10 losses white the league leading Stone Creek club is 16-4-1.
The next action for the Generals is next Friday when they take on the Dundas Real McCoys in the Howell Arena at 7:30 p.m. That night the Dunlops will play the Hamilton Steelhawks in the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena at 7:30 p.m.
Kyle Ventura led the Whitby attack as he scored twice and set up another goal, while Corey Tamblyn and Darren Doherty netted two goals apiece. Kyle Musselman scored the final goal for the Dunlops.
Tyler Melancon set up three Whitby goals, while Jason Dale, Kyle McLaughlin, Cody Thornton, and Brett Mackie each assisted on two of the Dunlops scoring plays.
Stoney Creek got two goals and an assist from Joshua Soares, with Jason Popek and Nick McParland each adding a goal.
