In Columbus Wednesday night, the Blue Jackets’ rookie Zach Werenski scored in the extra session to give the Jackets a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
“Some nights things aren’t going to go our way, but it’s sticking to the game plan,” Werenski said. “It’s playing every shift and trying to make the next right play. It’s been working for me.”

The Ducks had rallied from an early 2-0 deficit on goals from Rickard Rakell and Nick Ritchie.
“We got better as the game went on. Anytime you’re down 2-0 on the road and you come back and get a point, you’ve done something that doesn’t darken the whole day because we lost in overtime,” Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said after the loss.
Boone Jenner and Brandon Saad had scored for the Jackets in the fist period to get off to a fast start.
“Especially at home we want to start fast and use our speed,” Saad said. “I think we’ve done a good job so far.”
Sergei Bobrovsky made 30 saves in the win.
John Gibson made 25 saves in the loss.
