Wedgewood, Stars shutout LA, 4-0

In Los Angeles, Scott Wedgewood made 34 saves and the Dallas Stars make quick work of a 4-0 shutout of the Kings on Thursday night.

Tyler Seguin scored a pair of goals in the first period for a 2-0 lead to the Stars.

“Didn’t tell him to his face, but behind his back tonight everyone was saying how we’ve got to rebound for him. That game wasn’t on him; we played awful in front of him,” Seguin said. “And he’s got one of the toughest jobs in hockey. You don’t know when you’re going to play, you don’t play that much. You just practice every day, work your butt off every day, always stay prepared.”

Dallas improved to 27-12-7.

Esa Lindell extended the first period lead to 3-0 for Dallas.

The Kings dropped to 25-16-6.

“The puck was bouncing on us. It was a lot of factors,” Kings captain Anze Kopitar said. “Obviously, the first period didn’t go the way we wanted it to go, and it showed on the scoreboard.”

Jason Robertson scored in the second period for the 4-0 final.

“He’s (Seguin) enjoying it,” Robertson said. “I’m enjoying playing with him, and I’m sure ‘Pav’ is too, and yeah, we all like that little extra jump he’s got right now.”

Pheonix Copley got the start for the Kings, but was given the hook in the middle frame after yielding all four Stars goals, and making 13 saves.

“He’s played well for us lately,” Los Angeles coach Todd McLellan said of Copley, who lost for the third time in 15 games (12-3-0). “It wasn’t his best night, maybe his poorest that he’s had with us. We wanted to get him more time, but it was a real good time for ‘Quickie’ to go in.”

Jonathan Quick made seven saves in relief.
